Castle Impossible

Castle Impossible - HGTV

Has anyone else become instantly addicted to HGTV's Castle Impossible? A young couple leave their lives in California - jobs, family, and friends behind and embark on the adventure of a lifetime - renovating a 500 year old castle just outside of Paris that the wife has inherited from her grandfather.

I love HGTV but I cannot bear another show about a house turned into a white modern farmhouse with shiplap and sage green walls. I just can't. The French castle hosted kings and queens and is on 130 acres with a lodge, stables, other outbuildings, gardens, forests, and more. And they do lots of the renovation, design, and landscaping themselves. Also, most HGTV shows are in locations I have absolutely no desire to live. France is another story. I even speak French.

New episodes air at 9 pm on Tuesdays, but you catch-up streaming the first two episodes. This is a renovation fantasy I can totally relate to. Speaking of streaming, you must watch Conclave if you have not already, streaming on several platforms including Prime Video. An outstanding movie and it will take you right inside what is happening in Rome even as we speak. Black smoke again this morning....

  1. Bonjour Beth,
Almost fell off my chair reading your musings today. When the early morning starts with a roaring laugh the rest of the day is bound to be an adventure..

"I just can't"..is why I gave up on HGTV, but Castle Impossible sounds like my cuppa'. I look forward to watching it. What's not to like about a French castle?

Ralph Fiennes never disappoints and in The Conclave he is masterful. Been a heart throb of mine for many years. Mention "The English Patient" and I swoon.

    Merci beaucoup Beth.

    1. D'accord. The "English Patient" is perhaps my favorite movie of all time. Did you know that Ralph Fiennes has never won an Oscar? Adrien Brody won this last time because scores of Oscar voters thought Fiennes had numerous Oscars and that Brody had never received one. The same idiots who voted for "Anora" for Best Picture, Best Actress, etc. etc. Try to find the Ralph Fiennes movie "Damage."

    2. Not to best you Beth, but I've seen all movies but Schindlers List. I can't watch any Nazi horror anything. Once seen it never goes away. "Damage" I need to watch again. Superb. One of the best in that genre(?).
The Oscar Academy needs to hang it up. Shame on them. Did not know that. Only one word comes to mind.....Grrrrrr.....for slighting Ralph Fiennes.
When I read your take on "Anora" I knew not to bother.
I'll be leaving for France on Tuesday 9PM to help restore a castle.Instead of coveralls, I'll be wearing a crinoline.

  2. Oui, Beth! Moi aussi! I used to love watching HGTV, but as you said, almost every show has a white "farmhouse" look with green walls. NOT my style. This show should be interesting as they renovate a 500 year old building and it's in France!
