Lilac Floral Lace Clarise Dress |
This is such a pretty color. Lilac is a pale pink with purple in it. It is of course named after the color of lilac flowers. Whenever I think of lilacs, it reminds me of the famous poem "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd" by Walt Whitman. When I was in fifth grade, we each had to memorize a portion of this long poem and recite it. It is about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom’d,
And the great star early droop’d in the western sky in the night,
I mourn’d, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.
Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring,
Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west,
And thought of him I love.
My teacher was a retired opera singer and we also put on a production of the opera "Carmen" for the entire school. A bit advanced for fifth grade - LOL.
Lilac is a great color for Spring. I do not really like the color purple, but I love lilac - feminine and sophisticated.
Lilac is also one of those rare colors that looks good on just about every skin tone - warm, cool, and neutral. Even if you think you don't like purple, try it and see.
This is a great statement caftan - perfect for vacation and for going out to dinner.
The Lilac Floral Lace Dress is easy, breezy, and blinding with beauty. Featuring a mandarin collar, side seam pockets, and eyelet lace, this maxi is perfect for a ladies luncheon or date night dinner! Pair with a raffia heel and gold bangles or with ballet flats and statement earrings.
I love that it has pockets and a mini length cotton lining - I have a couple of unlined lace caftans and it's a pain finding the right slip to wear underneath since you can see it.
More pretty lilac choices -
There are several perfumes with lilac scent - one of the loveliest is Lilac Path by Aerin Lauder.
This dress is no longer available, but such a pretty color and I am a huge Hill House Home fan - I do have the same dress in red tulle -

Growing up, there was a large lilac bush out side my bedroom window. And while they were only in bloom for a short while, I always remember the beautiful fragrance we had each spring.
