Blue and White Chinese Porcelain Outdoors

via The Potted Boxwood

I love the gigantic blue and white Chinese porcelain planters in front of this lovely Dallas home. Blue and white Chinese porcelain is so pretty outdoors. I have lots of blue and white Chinese garden stools and fishbowls in my garden at CCC. Of course, with hurricanes in Florida, I use portable pieces that I can put in my garden wagon and have safe and secure in my garage when a hurricane blows through.

I have had Chinese garden stools in my gardens for decades and they look like the day they went outside. I even left the garden stools out in the DC area all year long. Fishbowls should be brought inside in places where it freezes, because they can crack when the water or soil freezes.

I love Chinese garden stools at the front entryway.

These are gorgeous but I would be concerned about them toppling over. This home is in Southampton, New York.

This Palm Beach home has two large pairs of blue and white Chinese ginger jars. I have seen many examples of people using a pair of smaller ginger jars flanking the front door, but I am not a fan. They always look dinky to me.

Believe it or not, I often see enormous blue and white Chinese porcelain pieces at my HomeGoods and HomeSense stores.

  1. Who doesn't love blue and white? It's a classic.

The houses you posted are all beautiful, but I especially love the one in Southhampton - it's just stunning. I've always been a fan of climbing vines, and my house cries out for it. It's very large and a bit imposing, and climbing vines would soften it, but I live in CA where there is enormous concern about fires. I've also never understood how homeowners contend with the potential damage it can do to the home's exterior, and keeping the creatures that live in it at bay. I suppose they love it so much that they consider it to be just another aspect of home maintenance.
