Sophisticated Halloween Decorating

Society Social

I started some Halloween decorating yesterday. I love decorating for Halloween almost as much as I love Christmas decorating. Halloween is definitely not just for kids anymore!

Here are some clever ideas from Society Social that work beautifully in this Chinoiserie living room. All are easy and fun. Apples are spray painted black, flowers (Poppy Anemones) are chosen for their black centers, and canned lychees are stuffed with blackberries to look like eyeballs.

I found this darling pink and white skeleton pillow at HomeGoods yesterday. It is super soft sweater fabric and reverses to pink with a white skeleton.

Here is inspiration for outdoor Halloween decorating - all in white for this gorgeous white home - skeletons in the planters and a slew of white pumpkins in all sizes and white gourds. Very chic and formal for those like me who want an elegant adult version of Halloween. Publix, for example, this time of year has white pumpkins in every size from miniature to large as well as all sorts of white gourds to easily create this beautiful display. I can't wait until pumpkins start arriving here.

Here are some darling ways to decorate pumpkins - especially white ones, with no carving!

  1. That Society Social living room space is just beautiful. When I first saw it, the Halloween theme didn't register with me. I thought the apples were actually very dark purple plums. I just thought it was a very pretty and feminine living room elevated to a more sophisticated level with the black accents - the lampshade, the center of the anemones, the apples, and the black in the murals ties everything together so beautifully.

  2. It's always an adventure to open your post. I don't do skeletons, but they certainly work at CCC. Will definitely bring out my Fall Notebook and most of my pumpkin collection. I have to have a pumpkin fix with a pie from a fabulous French bakery an hour drive from where I live. Tweak my pumping bread with gingerbread spices so the pumpkin flavor doesn't punch you in the face. Autumn in the mountains is my favorite time of year. Apple orchards all around for Matsus(?) and Honey-crisps. My go to for snacking and baking. Cardamom is the fragrance in my home all fall and winter. Crush a few pods and make small pouches of gauze to tuck around here and there.
You too Beth, have a lovely weekend, and as always thank you for all the inspiration you inspire.
