Holiday Entertaining Tip

Boursin with Black Truffle & Sea Salt

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the original Boursin cheese with Garlic and Fine Herbs. Boursin cheese is a gourmet French cheese brand that is named after its cheesemaker, François Boursin. It is from the Normandy region of France and dates back to 1957. The cheese met with tremendous success and has been popular ever since.

They have expanded their offerings with several varieties. Recently they came out with this limited edition truffled version. I had guests over Saturday evening and served it as an hors d'oeuvre.

It was absolutely fantastic. The vast majority of things that say "truffle" are made with truffle oil that does not have actual truffles in it. This is made with real black truffles.

Black truffles sell for $1,000 to $2,000 a pound.

When you open the package and unwrap it, you will be blown away by the truffle aroma. And the luscious decadence when you taste it! Add this black truffle cheese to your favorite pasta dish for a burst of savory flavor, crumble it on top of a delicious flatbread, or feature it a charcuterie board — the possibilities are endless. A layer of this on top of a piping hot filet mignon would be next level. I can't wait to try it in scrambled eggs or an omelette.

So grab this from your grocery store while it is still around. At $6.99 this is quite a steal and perfect for holiday entertaining. BTW, the "best by" date is usually many weeks out, so buy it when you see it.

  1. My favorite is the black pepper one, which is super hard to find, unfortunately.
