Cleaning and Displaying Seashells & Pink Lightbulbs Are Back!!!!!!

Amanda Lindroth - 2023 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach

If you love collecting seashells, you may have wondered about the best cleaning methods to have your beach finds look and smell their best.

1. When just light cleaning is needed, I soak the shells for an hour in a little dish liquid and warm water, rinse them, and let them air dry. Dawn dish liquid is a great choice.

2. For heavier cleaning, use a toothbrush dipped in white vinegar, then wash in soapy water and air dry.

3.  If you want a polished look, rub them with a little mineral oil or baby oil and let dry for 24 hours.

Some people soak seashells in 50% bleach and 50% water - I hate the smell of bleach, it changes their colors, it's not eco-friendly, and the shells absorb the bleach smell, so I am not a fan of this method at all. To each his own.

For small shells you find, I love them in a wicker bowl or a blue and white Chinese bowl. They look so pretty with sea glass treasures.

Our lovely discontinued G.E. pink 60 watt incandescent lightbulbs have just restocked - this is a 2 pack, free shipping, an excellent price - GRAB THEM!!!! In a few short weeks, on July 1, it will be illegal to sell them, so act now. If you have not read my previous post on this topic, click here. I have been trying out every LED bulb to report back, and they are horrid. They change the colors of everything - your paint, fabrics, your complexion, everything looks different and bad. Not to mention the connection of LED bulbs with eye diseases and sleep disorders. I have stocked up on dozens of incandescent bulbs before they are gone forever. This is not the little boy who cried wolf. Their manufacture is already illegal and everyone is just selling remaining stock. And starting July 1, even remaining stock cannot be sold in stores or online.
