2023 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach

 

I posted yesterday on the 2023 Kips Bay Show House Palm Beach that opens today. Having attended decorator show houses for decades ( I love them), I always enjoy seeing what the talented landscape designers do with the landscaping and gardens of the home.

"Landscape architect John Lang of Lang Design Group returned the home’s neglected, overgrown landscape to its former glory through imaginative reuses of existing plant material. 'Our design is tropical and eclectic with some elements of formality and symmetry,' says Lang. He created a warm, colorful welcome at the front door, for example, by dressing the trunks of palm trees with espaliered indigo orchids."

"Lang dressed up other original plantings to entice visitors’ eyes, like reshaping a 20-foot orange hibiscus and dressing original privet trees with Edison-bulb string lights, while adding modern touches like an aluminum sculpture by Alexander Krivosheiw in the motor court. The landscape loosens as visitors wander to the back of the residence, which Lang kept purposefully simple to highlight the waterfront view. " (Veranda)

One of my favorite things is the pair of life size dogs at the front entrance and of course I had to find them! They are, just as I thought, mid century modern and Italian in origin - this pair that looks to be the same is available on 1st Dibs -
