A Fabulous New Store

Flowers by Carolyne Roehm

A follower of CC recently emailed me about HomeSense, the newest of the HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx, and Marshalls family of stores. I went yesterday to the one in Sarasota and oh my word!!!! It is HomeGoods on steroids. Huge and very upscale. The gorgeous window display was entirely blue and white Chinese porcelain. Even a 5 foot tall blue and white Chinese porcelain vase. A greeter at the door, soaring ceilings, brand new carts, lots of open space. I was immediately in love.

There was Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Dana Gibson, Mark S. Sikes, NEST New York, Lillian August, the designer list list goes on and on. Designer chandeliers, lamps, furniture, rugs, art, accessories, a huge collection of blue and white Chinese porcelain, coffee table books. And unlike most HomeGoods stores, this was massive and beautifully organized with well done window displays and merchandise displays just like an upscale retail store. And it is dog friendly and I took Harper and she was a huge hit. (Two people wanted to know if she was a rabbit and two other people thought she was a stuffed animal). LOL.

Harper

I got several things including this wonderful book that is out of print and selling for as much as $85 elsewhere for $35.

UTC mall is dog friendly and then we went to Kona Grill for a wonderful sushi lunch. Harper is a Japanese Chin and she loves sushi! We sat on the patio and it was a gorgeous sunny 80° day.

They are opening brand new HomeSense stores all over - here is a store locator - click here. Let me know if you have been to one near you and what you thought of it.

I can't believe that I now have a fabulous HomeGoods right here in Venice and a great one close by in Sarasota and now this brand new HomeSense in Sarasota. And all are dog friendly!

Am I having fun or what?

  2. We have had HomeSense for a number of years. Both locations have nice well-priced items but are certainly not well stocked or well-staged. Nor are they in upscale locations. Hope we get a nice one like yours! North of Baltimore.

  7. Pictures please of your Homesense store in Sarasota. I love that area where my parents lived and spent a lot of time there and Venice.

  8. Ours opened in 2019 in Fairfax, Va. The next shopping center over is HomeGoods and hobby lobby… An embarrassment of riches! I have found some absolutely amazing things including Dana Gibson pieces that are still at anthropology for eight and $900… I found them for 299 at HomeSense!

  9. If you out & about this weekend - there's a fabulous art show going on @ Venice Art Center. A personal friend and artist (MaryO Smith) will be there and in her previous life was an Interior Designer. Just FWIW

  10. The first Home Sense stores opened in New Jersey about five years ago.-often in the same shopping centers as HomeGoods. Their specialty seems to be lamps, lighting fixtures, area rugs, art, and furniture. I’ve noticed that they don’t sell bedding or towels. I’m glad that they’re branching out to Florida and look forward to a store in the Bonita Springs/Naples area. (We always get a chuckle here that each HomeGoods store is about 7 miles away from the next one!)

    1. I think the new ones are different - this one had tons of bedding, towels, decor, china, kitchen, glassware, organizing, books, candles, pillows, everything.
