I love the blue and white Chinese garden stool propping open the French door. Door stops are such a chic and functional and old school piece. An open door keeps everyone more comfortable on warm-weather days. It's also great for letting kids or pets roam freely, or providing a better flow for indoor-outdoor gatherings. Use for interior doors too for doors that close by themselves (often a problem in historic homes) or as decor.
If you prefer to use a real door stop and not risk a beautiful garden stool, here are some great options.
My mother used an antique cast iron flat iron as a door stop for her guest bedroom in her Cape Cod-style home. My daughter now has that as a decorative piece in her home because it reminds her of staying at Grandma's house.

DeleteI love the brass bull. It makes me think of my dad, who worked in the investment business his entire life. If it weren't for him, heaven only knows where I would be!
ReplyDeleteThe brass bull is wonderful.
DeleteI have a beautiful doorstop that my aunt needlepointed for me over 40 years ago. It is a brick that is covered in the needlepointed fabric. I think that was a popular gift from needlepointers at the time. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI use to have one too. It is still a popular needlepoint project.
DeleteI have my grandmother's antique French bulldog.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds darling.
DeleteWow, Beth. The Millerton marble cube door stopper with the navy handle is to die for. And it is on sale! Thank you for finding these wonderful items for us! You have no idea how much you have expanded my knowledge of decorating. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for following!
DeleteBeautiful door stops to chose from. My young grandson finds a special rock each year when we are all on vacation together. He paints the rock, writes the date and gives it to me as a door stop!!! I have a precious collection and actually use them for door stops. ❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteVery cute.
