St. Nicholas Church in Leipzig, Germany |
I bet you have never seen a church in blush pink and mint green with enormous palm trees to the ceiling, and would have assumed this is in Palm Beach or Bermuda, and not Germany. This is too beautiful not to share. The color palette of soft pink and green and the palm trees and the black and white floor are certainly unexpected in a church, but wonderful inspiration.
Although I lived in Germany as a child, I have never been to Leipzig as it was part of East Germany. Leipzig was historically one of Germany's wealthiest cities and a hub for arts and culture. But following World War 2 and the separation of Germany into East and West Germany, Leipzig dramatically declined in wealth and importance. After the reunification of Germany, Leipzig restored its beautiful and historic buildings and has once again become one of Germany's prettiest cities.
