Kitchen Reno Update & Topiaries in the Kitchen

Mark Sikes - Coastal Living

Exciting news - my new induction range is in and will be delivered and installed next Thursday. And despite being told that my Bosch dishwasher would be 9 to 12 months, it should be here in 2 weeks. Great progress/so exciting. I love when a plan comes together.

I have ordered a kitchen runner and counter stools - I will share those in a future post.

Today's post is about topiaries in the kitchen. I love topiaries - I am a bit obsessed with them in my garden. I got a small pair of double ball Eugenia topiaries for my kitchen window over the holidays, much like the ones above. I need permanent pots for them.

Here is another pair in ginger jars, but I wonder if these are faux or real used just for the photo shoot, as ginger jars would be difficult to grow in, given their depth and lack of drainage holes.

Here are some options I like.

Braided Wicker Orchid Baskets in Large Set of 3

I really like both styles of the wicker baskets and especially the wavy ones that are sort of scalloped. Don't be afraid of using wicker containers for plants. Just keep the orchid or plant in the plastic pot it comes in and take it out for watering. Line the basket with a piece of a black plastic garbage bag to catch any water drips.

  2. I have the Blue and White Bird & Floral Orchid Pot and love it. I'm growing a small Sago Palm in it.

  3. I like topiaries too - indoors and out. That kitchen of Jennifer McGee's with the soft buttercream yellow cupboards and matching moulding, and the soft green moulding, (is that moulding?), over the kitchen window is just yummy.

  4. The trouble with topiarys is they need a babysitter when you go on vacation.

    1. Most plants require watering, not just topiaries. And I live on vacation.
