This is a lovely vignette in the living room of a Charleston home. I love the mix of vintage and antique pieces used in a modern way. Let's look more closely at some of the elements.
The pillows are in Miles Redd's The Wave Velvet for Schumacher in Chocolate.
There are pillows available on Etsy in this very expensive fabric like this one - it's beautiful in the navy too.
Here is a unique blue and white garden stool like the one above in this abstract pattern.
I love the vintage/antique slipper chair and settee in white linen. I personally gravitate towards a solid color linen or velvet for sofas.
I love a fiddle leaf fig, although this one looks like it may be artificial. This plant is notoriously difficult to grow indoors and there are many great faux choices. This one at World Market was chosen by Apartment Therapy as the best. Put it in a great straw basket - the Beachcomber is a favorite of mine (and everyone).
I have a great find for you to create a floor lamp with a rattan lampshade very similar to the coveted Celerie Kemble floor lamp that retails for about $1,000. Use your own floor lamp and add this shade. And the shade is on sale as are those beautiful
patterned fabric shades I just posted about.

I especially like the large framed photograph. I have three oversized framed photographs in my home and love the look. Framed photographs have a modern vibe but work beautifully with vintage and antique furniture. Looking for a very cool picture light? I love this caned one from Amanda Lindroth.
The paint color on the walls is very much like the color I used here in my Florida home. I wanted something in the white range, but am not a fan of a stark white in this very bright Florida sun. I chose an off white/pale warm gray that I absolutely adore - Benjamin Moore Classic Gray.

I hope this has given you some great ideas for your own home.

Good morning,
ReplyDeletePretty sure that lamp with the rattan shade is from Serena & Lilly ~
You are correct, but I prefer the Celerie Kemble and was showing how to copy it.
DeleteIt's really a wonderful composition. The pillows are what caught my eye at first glance, and I thought they might be made of hide hair. I'm generally not a girl who cares for browns in interiors or fashion, but I really like these. Brown just always seems like a tired color to me. I wasn't aware that fiddle leaf figs were hard to grow. I love indoor plants but I have two pets so I have to be careful not to bring anything into the house that might be toxic to them. I adore the wicker lamps, lamp shades and accessories. Thank you for the wicker lamp shade tip. Beth, you must have meant that Celerie's lamp retails for $1,000.00 - I counted the numeral one with four zeros after it - YIKES!
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the pets - I have always had animals, but none have ever messed with plants. I'm sure some do.
DeleteI just saw a close up pic of that Schumacher fabric on Etsy, and it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful fabric with a fun modern vibe.
