The Chinoiserie Front Door/CCC

CCC

When I bought my Florida home, the front entrance lacked personality, with nothing but painted concrete. The first thing I did was to add a pair of blue and white Chinese garden stools. They have been outside in my gardens for thirty years and I couldn't wait to use them here. They will be even happier because they are quite sheltered from the elements. I never thought about this before, but they are perfect for all of my deliveries ! Amazon Prime perches.

I keep a pair of umbrellas in the entryway - I take lots of walks with the pups and they are at the ready and I also love combining blue and white stripes with chinoiserie. A blue key fob is a new addition.

My garden design is a mix of a formal English garden with lots of topiaries and manicured lawns and tropical Florida with palms and cycads. My front entrance reflects this with topiaries and palms in blue and white Chinese fishbowls. They get watered every two or three days BTW for those who have inquired. You can Google blue and white fishbowls to find sources including Amazon and Home Depot. I suggest the 16" - large enough to make an impact outdoors and not look dinky.

My favorite addition has been the blue and white star tiles. Patterned tiles are a classic, but also a very hot trend. This design is nautical and preppy and I love the navy and white. I have seen this pattern called Moroccan Star and Nautical Star Compass.

I have to mention how much I love my reclaimed lobster rope doormat. It's beautiful, eco-friendly, and indestructible - check out the offerings by 30 Fathom Doormats. They really are wonderful.

We are under a tropical storm watch for the next couple of days which is crazy for this early in the hurricane season. Hopefully I will be posting tomorrow! Another adventure.....

  2. Love the star tiles. Was wondering how well they hold up in Florida with lots of moisture. I was looking to put something similar in our basement which periodically gets some water during heavy rains.

    1. Tiles are rated as to their uses - these are for indoors including bathrooms or outdoors including patios and pools, so they will hold up great. Just look for that.

  3. Your front porch with the blue and white garden stools, pots and tiled surface are just wonderful.

I have to say, I'm a bit envious of all you people back east who are getting all this rain. California is suffering so from another year of drought, and everything looks so sad and dry and brown! I feel as if I'm living in the Gobi Desert, or something.

    1. We get rain almost daily this time of year in the late afternoon or overnight. I have not used my irrigation system in ages. I love gardening and drought and desert would not make me happy at all. And wildfires!
