Name This Space/CCC

CCC

Just off my foyer is a neat little space. It has pocket doors, a coat closet (rare for South Florida), a linen closet, and doors leading to the guest bedroom, guest bath, and study. It measures about 9 feet by 6 feet. With the pocket doors, guests can close off this entire wing of the house for 100% privacy. What is this space called? I never know what to call it.

A vestibule?

A hallway?

An anteroom?

Inquiring minds want to know - LOL.

I want every square inch of my home to be beautiful and decorated. There is no reason this has to be dead space.

So I used pink and black, a favorite color combination, including a Scalamandre Zebras golf umbrella, a framed flamingo, a raffia piece from Bali, vintage Kate Spade shoes, a Mongolian sheepskin Chinese Chippendale bench, and a favorite piece of art - by a French artist, a Marilyn Monroe sketch on a Paul Bocuse recipe. The large leaning mirror is perfect for a quick check on the way out the door. The palm chandelier is Lilly Pulitzer. The result is a fun and functional space with chinoiserie and Palm Beach touches.

Here are some of my favorite similar spaces like hallways and landings and such that designers have turned into beautiful spots infused with chinoiserie.

  2. Lots of fun. Not sure what to call the space . Especially love Marilyn and find that gingham rug so unexpected and refreshing in the Traditional Home photo. Inspiring photos all.
