Slim Aarons/Palm Springs/CCC

CCC

One of my favorite new pieces in my Florida home is my Slim Aarons photograph in the living room. It is entitled "Poolside Party" and it is circa January 1970.

CCC

The iconic mid century modern Palm Springs home pictured in it was the backdrop for this and many of his most famous photos.

The home was designed by Richard Neutra for Edgar Kauffman and is currently on the market for $17 million. This price tag would be a record for Palm Springs.

"In 1946, Richard Neutra designed the iconic Kaufmann Desert House. A modernist classic, this mostly glass residence incorporated the latest technological advances in building materials, using natural lighting and floating planes and flowing space for proportion and detail. In recent years an energetic preservation program has protected and enhanced many classic buildings." (Wikipedia)

Here is the listing if you'd like to check it out.  These are a couple of the rooms as they look now.

The decor now is mid century, but not very Palm Springs. I would love to decorate this house in Palm Springs style - a relaxed retro vibe with glamour and pops of tropical color which is just my taste. I have friends retiring there and I plan to go visit Palm Springs as some point.

  1. If only I had an extra $17 mill I needed to invest. I’ve always loved this property and all the Aarons photographs, like yours, taken there. It is so fabulous!!!!

    1. Palm Springs should buy it and redo the house and gardens and one could tour it and they could rent it out for events. It is an important house historically and architecturally. I would buy it if I had the $$$.

It’s fun and personal and it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
