My current mattress in the master bedroom is a Heavenly Bed that I have been very happy with. I need a new mattress for the guest bedroom. There are SO many choices out there now! You all were very helpful when I was pillow shopping and I ended up with Casper pillows that I love.
So I would appreciate your suggestions on mattresses. Casper is in the running since the pillows are so great. And even though it is for the guest bedroom, I want something really nice. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have a Saatva that I am very happy with.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely on my list - it is very highly rated.
DeleteWe also have a Saatva and were so pleased with it, we got one for our guest room.
DeleteI like to sleep ON the mattress, not IN the mattress so I'm not a fan of the various memory foam beds. When my arthritis flares I'd find it impossible to roll over in one of those foam things. So I have a traditional innerspring Stearns and Fosters with a cushion top that I'm happy with. I must say, however, that thia newest Sterns and Foster mattress is not built quite as well as the one it replaced, and it will no doubt have a shorter life, but it's probably the best of the bunch when it comes to traditional style mattresses.
ReplyDeleteYes, they do not get the durability reviews they did before.
DeleteI highly recommend the Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress. I’ve actually had three different houseguests who bought it after sleeping on it at our home. Made in America, ships free, and sales are frequent! I add a 1.5 inch memory foam topper which makes it even dreamier! King sells for about $800 and can be returned if you don’t love it. Has a ten year warranty. Purchase online!
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestion - thanks - I will definitely check it out.
DeleteYour headboard/pillows/bedding are absolutely scrumptious! Good luck with your mattress search. We're very happy with our Tuft & Needle mattresses.
ReplyDeleteThat is also on my list - it gets great reviews. Thank you!
DeleteSince this is not a one size fits all and there are so many choices out there, I think you are going to have to do a little tire kicking. Even though it's for your guest room, I recommend buying one that you would like to sleep in. Of course it also depends upon how much money you want to spend. The last time I bought a bed for myself was before the time when there were so many available to purchase online, so I just went to the bed stores in my area. If I had to purchase one again, I would probably choose Aireloom, but I bought a Beautyrest with the pillow top. There are also many ways you can modify an existing bed - with a feather bed, a pillow top, a memory foam top.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with going old school is that the vast majority of the highest rated mattresses now are available online only and not in stores. They come with a very generous try out period and free returns.
DeleteI forgot to add that your pillows and bedding do look stunning! Please tell me who made the pillows for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - they are almost all vintage.
DeleteI ordered an Avocado mattress after seeing it was top-rated by Consumer Reports. I'd never heard of them before but the review was so glowing I took a chance. It was around $1800 for a king and is every bit as good as they said it was. I'm a side sleeper and my ex slept on his back; we both loved it. Have bought a second one now that we're divorced. Wouldn't ever consider any other brand.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear this - that's one I have read so much about and now I am even more interested.
DeleteI also bought an Avocado mattress which I have had for about 2 years. It's the best mattress I have ever had! So comfortable! They also have a trial period that let's you send it back if you find that you don't like it.
ReplyDeleteIt gets amazing reviews. Thanks for your advice.
DeleteThe former VP of Casper was my husband’s patient and gifted us a king sized mattress for our Florida home. The CEO sleeps on their standard mattress. We went to the store and found it more comfortable than the more expensive one. Being able to try it out was very important. Their pillows are wonderful. Up here, we bought a Schiffman mattress that was super-expensive and hated it. Also our friend the rehab doc says the memory foam mattresses are terrible because they provide no support.
ReplyDeleteI agree on the memory foam.
DeleteI have 2 casper mattresses and LOVE THEM!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Saatva! We have had the Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm king mattress for about 6 years now and still love it. We don't even love staying in hotels as much as we used to, because no bed is ever as comfortable as our own!
ReplyDeleteWe love our Saatva so much, we bought one for our guest room as well!
DeleteThanks - I will definitely check it out.
