This pretty bedroom features a palm chandelier and brass accents. How do you feel about the brass sculpture above the bed? It caught my eye because Brian and Mika used them all over their house on Rock the Block. Did you all watch this season? Once again, my least favorite house won. The show should be renamed "How to Appeal to the Masses." Brian and Mika are local/Tampa, but not fans of their show or style. I absolutely adored Nate and Jeremiah's house. And BTW, I can't stand the brass sculptures. To me it is the worst of mid century modern design.
This room is ok to me - pretty, but not wow. As for the brass sculpture, I’m meh about them in general. Didn’t watch rock the block, I’ve been on hiatus from hgtv but it’s starting to call me back!
ReplyDeleteI love HGTV but too much farmhouse for me.
DeleteTotally NOT on board for those brass sculptures. They cheapen the room. Why use them when so much great art is available?
ReplyDeleteYes - this room needs art - especially above the bed.
DeleteI like the brass sculptures but I think they would be more interesting in the room without the brass lamps on the nightstand. Too matchy!
ReplyDeleteI would lose the sculpture and keep the lamps.
Deletenot a fan
ReplyDeleteBrass sculpture looks like it belongs in a cheap motel. It degrades the aesthetics of the room, IMO. Also I am not a fan of the brown bench at the end of the bed. This room could be beautiful, but some of the elements are too heavy and clunky IMO, cheapening the entire look.
ReplyDeleteI agree - I was just focusing on the brass sculptures popping up recently.
DeleteHideous. They're by a company named Jere. I like the rest of the room but the brass birds are no bueno. Best let them fly away.
ReplyDeleteLOL - perfect.
DeleteMeh; brass sculpture looks like something you might find at Bed Bath & Beyond. Only thing I like in the photo is the tufted bench.
ReplyDeleteOther than the chandelier, there is nothing about this room I like and the brass sculptures above the bed even less.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I can't watch shows like that...they make me roll my eyes a lot and talk to myself out loud.
But...as my grandmother used to say (in a different context), there's a lid for every pot so this too, is bound to appeal to someone.
I find HGTV very entertaining and instructive.
DeleteThere is not one thing I love about this room. And the brass sculpture? Hideous. But I'm not fond of much that is Mid-Century.
ReplyDeleteI adore mid century modern in the mix, but not this.
DeleteThe brass sculptures look very sharp. Who wants heavy sharp things hanging above their heads? I feel like someone will accidentally bump their head or something.
ReplyDeleteHA, I had the exact same thought. That bird sculpture would haunt my nightmares and I would totally assume it would fall off the wall while I slept below it. NO THANK YOU, DEATH BIRDS!
DeleteDeath birds - absolutely hysterical. Thank you!
DeleteHave a look at Lauren Santo Domingo's Paris apartment with the beautiful use of Curtis Jere " Sea Urchins " . Never seen his brass mid century sculptures used in a more chic way !
ReplyDeleteAgree. Her whole place is fabulously eclectic and elegant so something like that gives it another level of sophistication. Context is everything.
DeleteAnd I really dislike that trite sculpture on the same wall as the contemporary blue painting to it's left. They don't belong in the same room.
ReplyDeleteQuite true. A mismatch.
