The Chinoiserie Front Door

Edith Anne Duncan - Southern Home

I love blue and white Chinese porcelain at the front door of a home. I have a covered entry with a pair of antique blue and white Chinese garden stools and a blue and white Chinese umbrella stand filled with navy and white striped umbrellas.

This is a lovely example with blue and white ginger jars and even a cobalt blue door to match.

  1. Love, love a blue door, the entire entrance is so very welcoming. But then again one can never go wrong with blue and white.

    1. I wonder if she leaves the ginger jars out or is this staged? I hope they stay out.

  4. Beautiful doors. I have always thought there is a fine line between a beautiful front door and a door that is contrived and doesn't add beauty. These doors are obviously a huge asset to the front of this house.

    1. You are so right - it is a thin line and this works beautifully.

  5. Home run.
Chinoiserie style cobalt door in perfect sync with the blue and white chinoiserie porcelain urns.
    So well thought out.

    1. Yes, beautifully done. A nice alternative to navy blue or black.
