I was looking back at my posts from New Year's Day from the past eleven years of Chinoiserie Chic and this was from my post in 2010. It seems especially appropriate today. If there is one takeaway for me from the horrific year we all just lived through, it is the fragility of our planet, of our democracy, and of human life. Hopefully we can make a new beginning in 2021.
For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
~T.S. Eliot, "Little Gidding"
Happy New Year Miss Beth! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you as well.
DeleteLet's hear it for new voices in 2021! All the best to you this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you and Happy New Year and may some voices from 2020 disappear.
DeleteNow that's a bottle of champagne! Does it taste as good as it looks?
ReplyDeleteYes, but I prefer a Champagne that is quite dry and elegant and pairs with things like oysters and caviar so this is perfect.
DeleteHappy new year, may it be your best year.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much and Happy New Year to you.
DeleteAn appropriate quote. Eliot goes on to write:
ReplyDeleteWe shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
The hero's journey--or, in your case, the heroine's journey! Best wishes.
Happy New Year! Have you read the Jan-Feb issue of Southern Home? It has an excellent interview with Amanda Lindroth. Great before and after issue!
