I love scented candles and especially at the holidays. My long time favorite was Nest Holiday -

But the elegant and understated striped design has changed to this and I am not happy -

I love the scent, but not the design. Busy and tacky IMHO. I'm sure I can find old stock online, but I would love your suggestions on holiday candles.
I will share another favorite of mine - it's not just for the holidays, but it's a scent I especially love during the colder months. Trapp Orange Vanilla.

I hear you! I got tickled at your post. If I find a candle that has a great scent but an awful design, I will first try to peel the label off. If it doesn’t peel off (as with the Nest) I put them in a short blue and white pot or a tortoise shell glass that I bought from Ballards. We can still enjoy the beautiful scent!
ReplyDeleteAlso look into the Trapp orange and clove. It’s one of their holiday scents and is lovely! It’s my new fave.
I enjoy all your posts. Happy Holidays.
I love Trapp candles. I will try the orange and clove - sounds wonderful. I like your idea of containers for the candles too.
DeleteMy favorite is the Frasier Fir candle by Thymes, a company based in Minneapolis. It is a fresh, crisp scent that signifies the holidays for me.
ReplyDeleteSounds great - I will check it out.
DeleteI have always loved Joie Noel from Votivo for the holidays and used booth candles and diffusers.
ReplyDeleteVotivo made the perfect scent for my home then discontinued it. I was disappointed but undeterred I called every store in the DC area and bought up the few remaining stock I could find. I even contacted Votivo to see if they had any hidden bottles of that formula. It's all gone now and I am so disappointed. Fragrance is such an important part of a home and it's been hard for me to find the right replacement.
I know. I loved their "night" scent. When they discontinued it, I bugged them for a long time! Also searched stores that stocked Votivo!
DeleteThat happened with my favorite Channel nail polish. Luckily, I found a bunch on eBay.
DeleteMy absolute favorite is Rigaud. I've yet to try Trapp candles.
ReplyDeleteOne year when I was much younger and had virtually no money for Christmas decorations, I bought small terracotta clay pots at the crafts store, spray painted them inside and out with gold paint, and placed small glass votive candles inside. The glow from the candle light that bounced off the gold pots was lovely.
I have hurricanes with candles all over my house for the holidays. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteRituals make nice scents, in a chic black pot. Brings to mind the Diptyque candles, which I love, but are more expensive. I love the fig scent, although it has started to get harder to find.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I will check that out.
