Pillows and Pillowcases

Hill House Home

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and is staying home safe and sound today enjoying Black Friday shopping from the comforts of home like me. Speaking of home and Black Friday sales, I wanted to return to the subject of pillows.

You will recall I posted a few weeks ago about making the perfect bed and asked specifically for new pillow suggestions. The majority of commenters suggested the Casper original pillow. They started their Black Friday sale a couple of weeks ago and I immediately ordered two and I love them. They are the perfect balance of soft and firm and work with any sleeping position. I would highly recommend them. Thank you for your recommendations.

I am debating silk pillowcases for them. Silk pillowcases seem all the rage and people can't say enough about how great they are for you hair and skin. I have read several articles including from the very reputable Good Housekeeping that they do indeed reduce wrinkles, bed hair, frizz, and split ends. Any experience or recommendations? This is on my Christmas shopping list for myself because I have been a very good girl this year.

  1. We love our Casper pillows! And our Casper mattresses!!

Silk satin pillowcases are the easiest thing in the entire world to make. They’re just sacks, basically. Do you know someone who sews? Best wishes.

    1. Glad you like your Casper. No, I just want to purchase them, not sew them.

  2. I have tried lots of silk pillowcases—from very expensive to GH recs. But the best have been the ones I’ve ordered from Kitsch. They’re perfect and well priced. Love the light leopard print one.

    1. That's interesting. Unfortunately, they are 100% polyester, not silk.

  3. As a side-sleeper I can attest to the fact that silk pillowcases do indeed help prevent morning face creases. I have also tried a number of different brands and they are all pretty much the same. My one recommendation would be to get one with a zipper. The envelope-style seems to slip off the pillow pretty easily. Amazon has many different choices under $25.

    1. Thanks - many reviews of the silk pillowcases mention this about a zipper.
