Finds & Wishes

Charlotte Moss

I was looking for a Charlotte Moss photo last evening in my files and happened upon this that she sent years back as an invitation to an event. I love the coffee table topped with chinoiserie wallpaper under glass and the selection of books.

I would love a copy of Shocking Life but it is very $$$ in good condition.

Speaking of pink, I received these darling Amanda Lindroth cocktail napkins embroidered with her pink Fiat Jolly.

This is my dream car for Florida in pink with wicker seats but they are quite rare and incredibly expensive. A nice one at auction can be $150,000.

I love fluted blue and white Chinese porcelain and it is difficult to find - I found this pair at HG/Venice yesterday.

.

Above is the Charlotte Moss photo I was searching for with a fluted ginger jar. Such a pretty room.

  1. Bought that same fluted jar at a HG, but in a moss green. Plays nicely in our bedroom with the other blues and greens. There was only one. Lucky you to find multiples!

    1. I had seen them in the green, but then they turned up in blue. Both are lovely.

  2. I've never seen a fluted ginger jar before, they are stunning. I love the reflections in the cube. I can't believe you are able to find such beautiful things at HG so easily!

  4. Delft did some gorgeous blue and white pieces in the late 19th and early 20th century. Not sure if Delft is still doing them or not. But pieces turn up at auction houses or estate sales occasionally. They are worth seeking out.

    1. I have several pieces that mix beautifully, most from my old auction house in Alexandria.

  5. Those fluted ginger jars are to die for--lovely. You are THE luckiest HG shopper ever!
I bought the rattan bar cart you posted from BB&B in black and natural and I set it up yesterday as a coffee bar in my home office. I just love it! Thanks for the recommendation. Patiently waiting for my fringed placemats to arrive from Indonesia purchased from Etsy after you posted tham.
I second Amy's love of hand-painted Chinese wallpaper! I love to see it in your posts.

  6. I spot this chinoiserie panel on the wall in the Charlotte Moss picture above .
What happened to your two silver gray panels you mentioned in an older post ?
Can you give it a trie and see how they look behind your blue velvet couch ?
Or you have an other plan for them in store ?

  7. Beth, buy a golf cart, take it to an auto detailer, or someone who customizes cars, have it painted pink, put a fringed top on it, and have wicker seats installed.

    1. Yes, I actually was playing around with that idea. I might do that.

    2. Have you seen on IG the pics of Danielle Rollins and her beau toodling around Palm Beach in the Fiat Jolly? You definitely need something comparable!

    3. There are only 100 of them left in the world unfortunately. I have some ideas on an alternative.

  8. I too enjoy your posts each morning. Your HG is incredible, ours has not "come back" yet after the closing. In fact it has been terribly disappointing. It is as if they have not received a new shipment. I have not seen fluted ginger jars before either, they are perfection. I am enjoying your victories.

    1. Too bad about your HG. This area is so bustling, things fly out of the stores. It's a great market for HG.

  9. Ever since I saw that Charlotte Moss-designed room, I have longed to place my bed smack in the center of my bedroom. Everything about that design is exquisite—and definitive CM. Best wishes.

    1. I did that in my previous home. The only issue is lamps on bedside tables.

  10. That pale blue and soft lavender room of Charlotte Moss's is just lovely. Did that appear in one of her books? Can you tell me where you found that image?

    1. I posted it years ago - definitely in one of her books - perhaps Charlotte Moss Decorates.

  12. Hope I can sneak off to Home Goods tomorrow.
When I worked at the Dali Museum in St. Pete, we lent some paintings to an amazing Schiaparelli exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
