My Living Room |
"The best laid plans of mice and men go oft awry" - Robert Burns
What I thought was going to be a bright and breezy day yesterday with my sofas brought in and a mini photo shoot started at 6 am with more drama and the police involved and pending criminal charges. I am fine, I'm just drained and fed up. I suspect things will not end well for Sandbagger.
So here are a few living room shots taken late last evening in the living room before a well deserved lights out and hopefully a better day all around today. Although I must squeeze in gas, food, and wine runs today with interesting weather projected in the coming days. I will take some photos later in the light including the pink velvet in the study.
My ace handyman did a wonderful job handling the sofas all by himself and they are safely ensconced in CCC.
Its gorgeous and serene- love the color combos and your darling pup.
ReplyDeletePraying you have no more aggravation from sandbagger.
-Linda, NY
Thanks so much. Harper looks a bit concerned. She's getting used to the new furniture in place. I think aggravating me has become his job.
DeleteI am so sorry the drama is continuing with that jerk. Your home is so beautiful - I want to spend the day there.
ReplyDeleteThank you. He loves the drama. I was told by an expert that people who suffer from depression as he does love the adrenaline/dopamine rush they get from conflict/drama. But I love my home more every day.
DeleteSorry to hear that your problems continue with SB. Hopefully that’ll be the last you time you have to deal with him. Love the navy couch!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I really like the navy with the pink and gold. It will not be the last with him unfortunately.
Deleteughhhhhh
ReplyDeleteI was finally at ease with the gated community, home security system in place. I hope he doesn't know where you live. Sounds like he does, I am so very sorry.
On a much lighter note, your sofa is soo dreamy. Your house came together so quickly. It's beautiful.
In the State of Florida, it's not difficult to find the address of anyone who owns real property as those records are public. And with Google, they'll actually provide a MAP with directions to the address! And with ZillowDotCom or RealtorDotCom, they'll provide views of every single room in the house! My husband had a stalker who showed up all over the place, she even figured out how to bypass the law enforcement-manned guard house, wait at the unmanned entry, maneuver her way through the code-activated security arm by waiting for the opportune moment she could glide under the previous car's lag time. She came right to our door and rang the doorbell! I guess that's better than throwing a brick through the window. The internet is "smarter" than [back to Beth's opening quotation] "the best laid plans" we've set up to protect ourselves. VERY unsettling.
DeleteOMG, that's truly horrifying! I'm going to assume that those real estate sites only provide that information if the residence is, or was recently, on the market. I hope you and your husband were able to rid yourself or this person.
DeletePutting individual addresses into the Zillow or Realtor [or Redfin or Trulia] search bar can yield hit or miss results but, yes, easier to view given recent sales, Lisa. I've seen houses show up long after a sale has closed. I'm a "serial renovator," so those sites are an enormous help when considering what previous owners have done to a dwelling, and whether the work was permitted [again, a matter of public record] or not [negotiating tool]. Oh that stalker, yes so far she hasn't shown up for a 3rd "visit." Her innate skills got her through the gate, but she lacked the gray matter that would have informed her that cameras were recording her every move, she received an uniformed escort out the gate!
DeleteThanks for the comments. He has not gotten in here. But your comments are very true - it is super easy nowadays with the internet to find someone especially if they own a home and gated communities are safer but not immune. I am taking all precautions.
DeleteYour dog is just the cutest. And I'm in love with your sofa!
ReplyDeleteThank you. She looks worried - she always looks that way though. The pups love it here.
DeleteThe house is becoming a home. Your efforts are so well done, each piece a statement in the power of details.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I appreciate the comment because I am very detail oriented. "The devil is in the details" is so true.
DeleteSending good thoughts your way, I am sorry drama continues. Thank goodness you and the doggos are safe and in your lovely home.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - this too shall pass.
DeleteSo, so sorry that the drama continues.
ReplyDeleteThe takeaway is that as a society, we need to take threats against women very seriously. They don't just go away, like a bad headache. But all the supportive messages you have gotten are very heartening.Sisterhood is powerful, and a threat and violence against one woman is a threat against all of us. Laws must get tougher, and so must judges. And the good ole boy culture (you know, wink, wink, nudge "Just drive around and calm down, Pal" has got to go.
Thank God you are safe.
Such a spot on comment. Thank you so much. The day the pups were taken hostage two of the police officers were actually laughing at me in my face. The police here are flying monkeys for the abuser. I am so angry about the way the police enable them. But the support here on my blog has been wonderful. Except for the miserable woman who told me to "wallow on."
DeleteWallow on?! How dare anyone say that to you? I have words for her but I can’t use them here. She doesn’t get it, The rest of us do. SB will look for any way to harass you. I hope he will wear out at some point. Stay safe.
DeleteTake comfort in your beautiful nest and count your blessings that at least the sofas (after aggravating delivery) arrived with no damage to warrant further jerkaroos with customer service.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Sandbagger, well, that'll sort itself out hopefully very soon when there are no longer "perceived" strings attached or unresolved issues still hanging in the balance. You know best what it's going to take to get there.
Thanks - actually there are a couple of issues with the sofas that require customer service. I will do a post once all is resolved, hopefully tomorrow. This has not been easy.
DeleteAnd yes, as you correctly perceived, there are issues remaining with Sandbagger that he of course will not resolve because he gets off on this nonsense and drama.
Meant to ask: Do you have plaster walls and do they require any special hooks for hanging art and mirrors?
ReplyDeleteDo the holes in the wall take any special technique to repair?
No, the walls are drywall but with a very light orange peel coat, very subtle. So nothing special about hanging and there was not one nail hole when I moved in. Very strange.
DeleteSandbagger sounds like he needs to come up against something bigger than his ego. Jail perhaps? I'm glad you found the HandyMan. He sounds like a wonderful find. The sofas (not counch, not davenport LOL) look fab. Can't wait for the art to go up (or did he illegally keep that, too?). Sounds like some dicey weather might be slapping Florida on both coasts. Or maybe someone in DC made another "adjustment" with is black sharpie. Hope your weekend is just what you need! You may have to turn the girl power logo into T-shirts!
ReplyDeleteMy handyman is the best. And as for the art, having it professionally hung, but Sandbagger is also in the mix. The weather is missing us thankfully. I don't need any more hassles. Girl power!
DeleteI am in love with the blue and pink coral! Hope you have some time to relax and take in all the beauty...
ReplyDeleteThanks - I love the color combination. And I am having a relaxing weekend - much needed.
DeletePlease be careful, Beth. I don't want to sound like an alarmist, but he doesn't sound as if he is through yet. I had an experience with a family member some years ago. He threatened me numerous times. He was very scary. He removed a gun from the safe. He was given a 30 day eviction notice, but during the 30 days between the notice and the deadline to vacate, he removed whatever it was in the house that he wanted. We were unaware of this, and frankly, I would have been too frightened to confront him. After he left, I had security cameras installed around my property. There was already an alarm system. I'm sorry to get into all of this, but my point is, you can't be too careful. I would even suggest that you consider getting a firearm and take classes on how to use it. I'm sure that sounds drastic to some, but until you have been in a situation where you feel your safety and your life are in jeopardy you don't know.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you have said and am taking all necessary measures. Thank you.
DeleteBeth, you and your safety are in my prayers. I know I’m not the only one.
DeleteJust beautiful! Can't wait for more pics. I'm so sorry he is continuing to harass you! Ugh! Why won't he just GO AWAY DAMMIT!!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the pics today. You can't fix crazy. Thank you.
DeleteI love the way your home is coming together! Take some time this weekend to pamper yourself and your adorable dogs. Then please consider paying a visit to your local police chief (or the highest ranking woman on the force). Law enforcement officers, at least the good ones, resent being used to harass someone in this way. Have you considered the possibility that some of the weird emails you were getting might have been from him or his buddies? That happened to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is getting close to something called SWATTing which is a crime. The Seattle PD has some advice for protecting yourself from it. https://www.seattle.gov/police/need-help/swatting The gist of it is to let the police know you have been harassed in this way and they will flag your name and address in case he tries again. Sadly far too many of us have had to learn to defend ourselves against this garbage. Living well is the best revenge! Elizabeth
Thanks so much. All excellent advice. Amen.
DeleteSo sorry sofa day was spoiled🙁better days are ahead! Your blue sofa is beautiful💕
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Michelle
Thanks. Onward and upward.
DeleteMay I just say, the bar stool in the top/first picture is TO DIE FOR!!!! Your new home is coming together beautifully!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I love those stools and I have had them for years.
DeleteAnd on [oh-so-gorgeous!] Sofas Day no less comes Universe with yet another test, easily passed with Summa credentials may I add. Listen up Universe: one day you gift her with neighbors to the rescue, the next day you test her with SB raising the stakes. Are you done yet? It doesn't really matter, but if SB has attrition on his mind, no one, BUT NO ONE, can outlast our Beth. She's Got This!
ReplyDeleteYour comment made my day. Thank you so much.
DeleteThe blue sofa is stunning, can’t wait to see the pink one... Sorry to hear that Sandbagger is still harassing you. The crazies are difficult to get rid of and never think they are the problem, they will ALWAYS blame everyone else. Stay safe..
ReplyDeleteI had no idea until him that I am to blame for everything in the universe. Amazing I have that much power. The stories I could tell.... Thank you.
DeleteYour home is coming along and it looks great! Love that sofa..
ReplyDeleteHorrible that he can't take a hint.. Take any and all precautions to keep you and the pups safe.. Don't take any chances.
Darn shame he is trying to ruin it all, but that's what morons like him try to do.
Stay safe..
Thanks so much. So true. I am doing my best.
DeleteLooks beautiful! So sorry about what you're going through, but it's good to see that your home will bring you joy. Love all the accessories. It just lacks driftwood. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am still searching for that perfect driftwood piece - LOL.
