I've received lots of questions about the fabric used on the chairs in this room by Barrie Benson. I think it's Vintage Plumes by Robert Allen for Dwell Studio, although in this photo it looks more blue than the Jade colorway it is available in.
The fabric used is truly gorgeous. Speaking as a color expert and residential stylist, it really doesn't stand up to the heavy rug, though. I wonder why the designer chose such a heavy rug for the light-drenched and otherwise perfectly beautiful space? I just posted about this humorous decorating dilemma, which I call, "Your Big Old Free Rug." Wonder if that is what happened here?
Hi, I am enthralled with chinoiserie and I love your site...you are a great inspiration to us reformed lawyers turned aspiring designers. Thanks so much for all the great posts. I just started my own blog www.sybariticspaces.blogspot.com where your site has been mentioned more than once. Thanks again! Take care, Amal

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the fabric! However, I do agree with Ellen. The rug is a bit much and seems to be at odds with the rest of the styling in the room.
