With two feet of record breaking snow headed straight for my house today, my thoughts have turned to staying warm and toasty this wintry weekend in the nation's capitol. I am a huge fan of throws-I have them all over the house. Some of my tips:
1. Cashmere-Williams-Sonoma Home has wonderful quality and colors.
2. Mohair-Ralph Lauren's are luscious.
3. Hermes are gorgeous but pricey.
4. Choose dramatic colors to make a design statement-no need to go boring or matchy matchy.
5. Please don't fold them neatly-a pet peeve of mine-artfully toss like these great examples by interior designer Joe Nye.
That's why they call them a "throw" right? Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm beginning to think you and I have a lot in common! My top three home accessories would be throws, trays and vases! I was just at the NYIGF and saw some truly amazing throws that I plan to incorporate in my future design. Keep warm this weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the way they are puddled on the furniture! Very artistic.
ReplyDeleteI bought a cashmere throw while on vacation in Australia recently. My husband talked me into it and it is the most snuggly throw ever. I am sure we will all be fighting over it this weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy family loves throws...we have a house in NH that gets tons of snow and in the negative degrees, so it is always nice to have a throw to "throw on" when you get a little chilly...
ReplyDeleteI have throws everywhere. Faux Fur, Chenille, knits, etc. I do not have a cashmere one and would love it!

Oh and I adore what you have done with the JC Penney Trellis Stool!
ReplyDeleteI,too, have throws everywhere but the white Ralph Lauren Cashmere is not for the cat, China.
ReplyDeleteI never travel without a throw. It is the one thing always lacking in a rented apartment or hotel room, it seems. Can't live without that cozy feeling.

Appletree-Exactly.
ReplyDeleteHamptontoes-Three home essentials for sure.
ReplyDeleteTheresa-Such a sumptuous look.
ReplyDeleteSusie-Stay warm-we are buried.
ReplyDeleteCC-I bet you have them everywhere.
ReplyDeleteKarena-The more the merrier with throws and glad you like the stool.
ReplyDeleteGraysonFavour-My dog keeps stealing my Ralph Lauren ice blue mohair throw right off the couch.
ReplyDeleteCatherine-What a smart idea. I always bring scented candles, but will add this for travel as well.
ReplyDeleteSo you are in the artfully tossed camp. I like both looks but I must be honest I fold neatly it just looks better in my enviroment. I can toss artfully though in the right enviroment and actually have done it for many a client. Interesting thoughts on the subject,Kathysue
ReplyDeleteKathysue-It is quite funny-I'm sure most people have never thought about this subject.
