A Modern Approach to Chinoiserie
Here is a wonderful modern take on Chinoiserie that would work anywhere from a city apartment, to a cottage retreat, to a beach house. I love the restrained yet dramatic palette of white, black, pink, and aqua blue. The dining room is fabulous with its white lacquered stools, Lucite table, and black table settings. Notice the large black mirror leaning against the Chinoiserie papered wall. The white walls and floors provide a dramatic background. In another shot of the dining room below you will see how the pink in the magnolia branches is again picked up in the pink floor cushions. The bedroom is lovely as well with its Chinoiserie wallpaper, French bed, and again the palette of white, here dark floors, pink, and aqua blue.

ReplyDeleteAverill-I think those are star magnolia branches, but cherry blossoms would be gorgeous as well.

ReplyDeleteThe weird lucite table works so well here. I'm surprised I like it, normally I wouldn't give much thought to a lucite table!!!
