Happy Presidents' Day

Christopher Maya
In honor of Presidents' Day, I thought it would be fun to post on a red, white, and blue room. I'm sure many of you, when you hear red, white, and blue in interior design are thinking kitschy or country, but this can be a very sophisticated palette, especially when combined with Chinoiserie.

In this New York apartment dining room by Christopher Maya, he has used Benjamin Moore's Heritage red on the woodwork. This is also a GREAT red front door color. The Schorr & Dobinsky bergere is upholstered in Ralph Lauren's Nigel velvet. Vaughan Designs' Verbier chandelier is a stunning look above the 1940s Edward Wormley table. The Chinoiserie wallpaper is de Gournay's Earlham in cobalt blue. The two tone drapes of Duchess silk are Zimmerman + Rhode.

I also adore library dining rooms. Such a great idea if you have limited space and/or lots of books and it looks wonderful!
