Chinoiserie Banquettes

I have always adored banquettes. Here are three stunning examples of how to incorporate Chinoiserie elements. This lovely banquette by Alessadra Branca above was featured in Southern Accents and is a home in Georgetown for those of you in the D.C. area like me. I love the color palette of yellow, celadon, and coral, the tufted banquette, the swing arm wall lamps, and the Chinese garden stool. Of course what makes this space are the Chinoiserie walls. The stunning room below, classic English decorating by Mario Buatta, brings in many Chinoiserie elements like the blue and white Chinese porcelain, orchid, gilt bamboo tables, and pillows. The green lacquered walls are gorgeous. The last elegant space by Alessandra Branca was featured in Elle Decor. She brings in many Chinoiserie pieces including the English Regency chair, porcelains, red, black, the black lacquer table, and the botanicals.

  3. I so want a banquette but don't have the configuration for it in this home, next one! I'm terribly jealous that Averill will be having one in her new kitchen. Great examples, & so lovely ~

  4. Allison-I am crazy about using yellow in a room with Chinoiserie. This picture is the same colors as in my living room.

  6. Dumbwit Tellher-Banquettes work well in kitchens, breakfast rooms, dining rooms, and living rooms. They are ideal and underutilized in apartments with combined living dining areas where people end up with these awful little dinette sets.

  7. I have a pesky corner in my living room next to the fireplace. I had never considered a banquette until now. I can't wait for my bff to get here from Portland tomorrow so I can show her your blog. She will faint dead away! xo kitty.
