To me, symmetry in interior design is one of the key elements dividing interior design styles into an old school, traditional, classic approach (symmetry) and a more modern, casual, fresh approach (asymmetry). 

In this Phoebe Howards console above, there are five pairs and everything is in perfect symmetry. How do you feel about this? I fall in the in between range. This is a bit too matchy matchy for my personal taste. I now tend to use symmetry to anchor but then mix in individual pieces. 

I do love the British Colonial vibe with dark woods and blue and white Chinese porcelain. The inlaid bone mirror works beautifully too.

Lots of blue and white Chinese porcelain anchor this room. I love the smaller blue and white rug layered over the sisal and the inlaid bone mirror as well.

Pink & Black

Pink and black is such a favorite of mine and this is a great mix, a black inlaid bone tray and pink leopard tray. A wonderful combination of pattern and color.

Inlaid Bone High/Low

I posted before on this fabulous inlaid bone side table at Wisteria above that is $399.00 and now totally backordered. Check out the table I scored yesterday at HomeGoods for $129.99 in this gorgeous purple that will be perfect in my home. I also saw it in gray. The tables are the same size and design. I completely love it. Please let me know if you find it in other colors. Happy hunting.

Inlaid Bone

My latest addiction is inlaid bone-below are some great pieces available at Wisteria. Schuyler Samperton has done a beautiful job with this inlaid bone chest vignette above. I spy a fiddle-leaf fig tree, two blue and white Chinese porcelain vases, three vintage books, a modern piece of art, Vogue Living:Houses, Gardens, People, Tony Duquette, a book I can't find, and a small silver vase with lilacs.
