The Chinoiserie Entry

Thomas Britt - Architectural Digest

This entryway, with its walls, windows, and doors lacquered in Chinese red and leopard carpet would be the perfect introduction to a Chinoiserie filled apartment. Note too the marbleized woodwork.

And a big thank you to Tina from The Enchanted Home for including my laundry room in her post today.

Ann Getty and Thomas Britt on One Kings Lane

The picture above shows the work of San Francisco interior designer Ann Getty and is one of my all time favorite Chinoiserie rooms. She loves Chinoiserie and her taste in textiles and porcelains and everything else is simply exquisite. Tomorrow is an extraordinary event-Ann Getty will host a Tastemaker Tag Sale on One Kings Lane at 11 AM ET. Included will be one of a kind finds including furniture, accessories, and vintage pieces from her personal archives. There are some spectacular items in this not to be missed sale. Just below are some lovely examples of her interior design work and furniture and textiles from her collections. Below that you will see a sneak preview of some of my favorite offerings on tomorrow's OKL sale. I have also seen a preview of Thomas Britt's Tastemaker Tag Sale tomorrow and it includes some fabulous Chinoiserie things. He too has incomparable taste in Chinoiserie. Read my previous post on Ann Getty here and on Thomas Britt here.

Parisian Chinoiserie

If the truth be told, I find so much interior design today terribly dull and plebian. This is not. The New York home of the incomparable Thomas Britt-opulent, dramatic, plush, delightful, sophisticated, whimsical, and confident. A study in French Chinoiserie. Make sure not to miss the double sided Pagoda bookcases, the Ming fu dog, the Chinese porcelain-especially the peacock blue garniture in the dining room, the blue satin upholstery-love the Billy Baldwin slipper chairs, and the gorgeous use of color and mirrors. His sense of scale is perfection. Enough said-enjoy this incredible visual feast.
