I went back to Sprouts and found more pink and blue pumpkins. I also looked at acorn squash and found the three blackest ones to mix in. I will be adding two huge black lighted witches hats the week of Halloween and wanted a bit of black.
So I am up to 13 pumpkins/squash and Halloween is still a month away. Have you noticed how decorating with pumpkins has become a trend? There is even a name for it.
It is called pumpkinscaping. You can hire a professional to do it for you for prices up to about $1,500 plus, called a pumpkin concierge. Texas based Porch Pumpkins has done displays costing up to $8,500. They even train people how to start their own pumpkin concierge business at a cost of $4,500 for a 2 hour training session.
Yes, piles of pumpkins have became the latest status symbol of affluence. It is especially popular in affluent areas like Dallas, NYC, Georgetown in DC and Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia.
I think I will probably call it quits soon with my pumkpin search. I like keeping my pumpkins protected from the Florida elements in my covered entrance and don't want to be climbing over pumpkins! Here not only is there the intense Florida sun, but alligators, bobcats, coyotes, wild boar, armadillos, and more who would love to dine on my yummy pumpkins. They thankfully stay away from my front door.
I was feeling gulty over spending $100 on pumpkins (o.k. not really) until I read about pumpkin concierges. Professional pumpkin decorating was the next logical step as having professionals do your exterior and interior Christmas decorating has been popular for over a decade. Of course these pretty pumpkin displays will last through Thanksgiving.
A funny pumpkin story. A woman posted on instagram how she ordered 75 heirloom pumpkins on Instacart. The poor driver had to go switch his car for his truck. He showed up with all the pumpkins and there were pics of him unloading them all. I hope he got a big tip. She was her own pumpkin concierge!
