Growing up, I went to an eight week sleep away camp in Wisconsin every summer for many years. In July we would celebrate "Christmas."
The quirky holiday was reportedly invented at an all-girls summer camp in North Carolina in 1933. Campers longed for the winter aesthetic of the holidays and celebrated with fake cotton snow and Santa. The concept was further popularized by the 1940 screwball comedy film Christmas in July.
Well I was on T.J.Maxx and Marshalls online and they have opened their Halloween shop and their Christmas shop. There are some lovely Christmas items from Mrs. Alice and lots more designer pieces that will not last long, so perhaps you'd like to take a break from the heat and think about decorating for the Christmas holidays.
