Mahjong of course originated in China, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. Whether antique and vintage tile sets or new designer ones, chinoiserie is everywhere.
And my favorite mahjong table setups are chinoiserie inspired. I love the example above with Chinese Chippendale chairs, chinoiserie wallpaper, and a vintage bamboo screen.
The beautiful chinoiserie tiles and mats are addictive. I have two sets of tiles with a third set on order arriving in about a month.

I saw this beautiful mahjong tablecloth. But I wasn't crazy about the color or the price.

I found a very similar one at HomeGoods yesterday for under $40 and it's blue and white.

Does anyone remember the wonderful Kate Spade and Target collaboration last year? There was a gorgeous green folding table I passed on as I had no need for it and mahhjong was not yet on my radar screen. It would be perfect for my mahjong table. Oh well....

My mahjong class and online mahjong practice games are going well - I feel like I have made lots of progress in less than 3 weeks. There are three mahjong groups that play at my clublouse in my community, but I think down the road I may start my own. Mine would include caftans and cocktails and food and pretty mahjong tabletops.
