| Frances Valentine Embroidered Charming Caftan |
My first mahjong class is this afternoon and I am excited to start. Little did I know when I decided to learn mahjong what a thing it is. Everyone seems to be launching mahjong stores selling all things mahjong, some very pricey, and everything is selling like hotcakes. A seashell mahjong mat that went on sale yesterday for $225 sold out instantly. And waitlists for $500 tile sets.
And I naively thought you get one set of tiles, racks, and a mat and you are all set. In fact, some people have many tile sets, racks, and mats and it is like setting a fancy dinner party table coordinating it all. Yikes - yet another expensive habit for me. I am aware that you can just have one basic set, but where is the fun in that?
And what you wear to mahjong can be a thing too. There are mahjong parties where caftans, big sunglasses, and statement jewelry is the look - very The White Lotus. They are often called Caftans & Craks parties.
Since my wardrobe consists of lots of caftans, big sunglasses, and statement jewelry, I am good to go. I plan on wearing a Frances Valentine caftan today. Comfortable and chic since I will be sitting for several hours.
Frances Valentine has lots of fabulous caftans and several are on sale. Find them all here. If you love comfortable statement dressing look no further. There are short ones as well.
I will report back tomorrow. I had a sad day at CCC yesterday. I have had a sweet bunny living in my backyard for years. A beautiful male bobcat also took up residence in my backyard/preserves recently. You can imagine - rabbits are bobcats' favorite delicacy. I found the bunny's remains yesterday in his favorite spot in my garden and I buried him there. Rest in peace my sweet bunny friend. Go find my departed pups at The Rainbow Bridge. I will miss you.

Oh sweet bunny.
ReplyDeleteDear goodness, mahjong has been around for centuries. Played with intellegence and grace.
My hope is that it doesn't get bastardised like so many other fine things have. Or heaven forbid! turn into a tragic bingo hall circus center with tables full of "good luck charms" and the like. Decorum seems to be flittering away. Let's hope mahjong holds on strong to it's elegant origins.
😢Oh no, how terribly sad. I think it was kind of you to have buried him. 💚
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Beth - you are so into it! You make me laugh when you say, "another expensive habit for me" - and now you need a mahjong wardrobe, to boot! I have the same problem, in that I seem to find expensive habits.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about the bunny. I hate to hear about the demise of a sweet little animal, but alas, that's just mother nature. Where there is one bunny, there are probably more bunnies, and since there is a food source, there are probably more predators.
