My Lipstick is Finally Back

Vanessa Paradis Wearing Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle

Chanel's Rouge Coco Mademoiselle lipstick has been my signature shade for ages. It is what I wear 365 days a year. About a year ago Chanel reformulated many of its lipsticks including Mademoiselle. There was some debacle and they immediately pulled the reformulated lipsticks from the shelves claiming a packaging problem. My problem was that I was down to one remaining in my makeup bag.

Well, weeks turned into month after month of it being out of stock everywhere. It was selling on eBay for up to $200 a tube. I embarked on a mission to find a dupe and realized there is nothing the same out there. The closest I could find out of desperation was Estée Lauder #440 Irresistible which while nice, is just not the same.

Well my lipstick is finally back and I ordered it and it just arrived. Hallelujah! The number has changed from #434 to #104 and it seems just a tad lighter probably due to the new formula.

The ad campaign above featuring Vanessa Paradis is from 2010. I am so happy. It was out of stock for a very long year!

It is described as a "warm rosewood." It's a muted, medium-dark rosy pink with warm, plummy brown undertones and a soft shimmer finish that's lightly luminous. It is a very classically elegant color that is easy to wear and very flattering. It is a perfect every day color.

So if are a fan and have been waiting for its return or are looking for a great new lipstick it is now available.

  2. That’s why people hord the things they love, we’ve all been there.
I am glad this worked out for you.

Sometimes companies cannot leave well enough alone— from cosmetics to cars, shoes and grocery items. They think they are improving but invariably the “ new and improved” seldom is, in my experience at least.

    Hate it when that happens.
