A Blue and White Chinoiserie Caftan

Kate Spade in a Mexican Peacock Caftan

This photo is of the late Kate Spade in one of her favorite pieces, a peacock embroidered caftan she brought back from Mexico.

Kate Spade's last venture was Frances Valentine, started with longtime friend and partner Elyce Arons. One of Frances Valentine's first clothing pieces was their take on the peacock caftan, shown below.

Frances Valentine

I have four Frances Valentine peacock caftans from this collection and they are such favorites. To celebrate their tenth year, they have brought back iconic pieces that helped launch the brand.

 Shop the archive collection here.

My favorite is the peacock caftan in this beautiful blue and white. Very Chinoiserie Chic.

Embroidered Peacock Charming Caftan

"This woven caftan holds a special place in the Frances Valentine story. Inspired by a trip to Mexico, where Katy discovered a similarly beautiful piece and imagined a timeless capsule wardrobe built around ease, color, and joy, this style became one of our earliest icons. Light, effortless, and finished with playful peacock embroidery, it was designed to move with you and feel special without trying too hard. Ten years later, it remains just as iconic. A true legacy piece in the Frances Valentine catalog. Nostalgic, deeply sentimental, and endlessly wearable, we are honored to bring it back."
