Isn't this a fabulous chinoiserie kitchen by Amanda Lindroth? Note the blue painted cabinets and hood and black soapstone countertops and backsplash. The hood and cabinets are trellised.
Chinoiserie touches include the red Chinese Chippendale counter stools and pagoda lighting fixtures. This kitchen is from her wonderful last book "Island Dreaming."

It's pretty, and I love Amanda Lindroth's designs, but I'm curious as to why she chose black soapstone.
ReplyDeleteProbably because soapstone is gorgeous.
DeleteThat’s such a cool kitchen, but I think it would be a nightmare to clean.
ReplyDeleteIn the tropics (this is in the Bahamas) people don't necessarily cook as much so as to not heat up the home. I rarely use my range at all, much preferring cold food here in South Florida. Cooking is what dirties a kitchen after all. And this may well be a second (vacation) home.
