One of my favorite go-to online stores, Tuckernuck, has their huge annual online Sample Sale starting now. Tuckernuck's only brick and mortar store is in Georgetown in D.C., one of my favorite places. A NYC store is coming soon. I lived in Georgetown during law school and my daughter lived in Georgetown for many years after college. This is the gorgeous house I lived in during law school. It was built in 1875.

Tuckernuck is named after Tuckernuck Island, an island in Nantucket County. It is off the electrical grid with no grocery store or restaurants and is privately owned by its residents.

It certainly is a beautiful Georgian house. Except for some old buildings built after the 1906 earthquake, we don't have the beautiful architecture in San Francisco that you easterners have.
ReplyDeleteInteresting history about the Tuckernuck brand and Tuckernuck Island. I assumed they had many stores, and had no idea they only had one brick and mortar store, but I'm way out here on the west coast. (I'm not so sure I would enjoy living on an island without electricity and grocery stores, especially back east where it is very cold.)
DeleteOff the electrical grid meaning they generate their own electricity through solar panels or wind turbines.
There are days I open your blog and know I should close it immediately. Today is such a day. My resolve not buying much this early in the year has been shattered. Tuckernuck sale....Be still my beating heart....Thank goodness a lot of S and XS. I'm neither, but enough L in stock to break the bank.
ReplyDeleteA trip to Georgetown after a visit to T-nuck store and tea at the Four Seasons make me a happy, very happy, lady.
Interesting to know about Tuckernuck island.
To have lived at Georgetown House. How special. Surely one of the most coveted houses in the country.
Thanks Beth, I now have 50 pages of shopping to do.

Thank you, Beth, for this post. My son graduated from Episcopal in Alexandria. It was so much fun to explore DC. I miss those days

DeleteWe lived in Seminary Ridge before moving to Belle Haven and belonged to Episcopal's Pool and Tennis Cub for years as well as attending many great events there. Such a wonderful school.
Glory Days!
