Holly Golightly Black Dress |
Of course, the little black dress never ever goes out of style. Popularized by Coco Chanel a century ago, the LBD is a mainstay of every elegant woman's wardrobe. The LBD is meant to be a blank slate, adding pearls like Coco Chanel or opera gloves, sunglasses and a tiara like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's a canvas that you finish as you like. I love black and wear it often here in South Florida. But I always accessorize it here with either lots of pearls, or lots of gold, or colorful accessories to keep it fun and fresh and not funerial in this beachy area.
The little black dress is central to the ladylike trend that will be a big look this fall. I have put together some favorites. here.

I definitely am a "ladylike dresser". I own three of the dresses listed! I just wore the longer black dress with the feather sleeves to a gala here in Michigan last Saturday night.
ReplyDeleteIt will never go out of style, which is what makes it a classic. I still remember that black dress the late Princess Diana wore to her first royal engagement as Charles's future wife. She looked absolutely smashing!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Coco Chanel made tanning chic? The story is that she got a little too much sun while on vacation and returned with a beautiful golden hue.
