Yellow & Chinoiserie

Mackenzie Page Interiors

This beautiful vignette features Scalamandre's Blossom Chinoiserie Mural and a wonderful tufted and scalloped curved settee with fringe trim.

Note how the woodwork and ceiling are painted a pretty soft blue. Haint blue is definitely not just for porches anymore. This Spring I am having my lanai ceiling painted in a Haint blue.

I have always loved touches of yellow with chinoiserie - yellow goes beautifully with blue and white Chinese porcelain and with chinoiserie wallpaper. My first adult piece of furniture after I got married was a sofa in glazed yellow chintz adorned with birds and flowers. I had that couch for decades and loved it.

Have a wonderful weekend. I have a cocktail party tonight and a Spanish wine dinner tomorrow night. 78 degrees here today. Life is tough....

  1. I have a gorgeous buttery yellow sofa in the midst of all my blue and white. It makes me happy every time I walk in the room. Friends have a mixed reaction, they either love it or hate it. But it is my house, my rules! We are expecting another round of severe storms and high winds later today here in Upstate SC (just had a tree removed from driveway yesterday from the storm and flooding a few days ago). Enjoy your marvelous weekend!!

  2. My kitchen/family room is BM Straw, a soft warm buttery yellow. The kitchen cabinets are BM Decorators White and my collection of blue and white ginger jars and other Chinese porcelain is displayed throughout. I love it.
