Christmas in Venice

Christmas in Florida

It was 76 degrees here in Venice yesterday and will be 75 today. When I first moved here, I wondered if I would miss the seasons.

The answer for me is a resounding no. I love sunshine and being able to be outside almost every day of the year. I went to the beach yesterday and it was a picture perfect day. I had friends over for a glass of Champagne and to see my Christmas decorations at sunset yesterday in the lanai.

If I never see a snowflake again that would be fine with me. I have not had a coat or boots on once since I moved here and haven't turned the heat on yet this season. I think I had to turn the heat on last year a couple of times for a few minutes to take the chill off because Harper gets cold easily.

  1. Forty years ago I was living in the Midwest and applied for a job in California. The woman on the phone asked why I wanted to move to California. I explained that it had been a miserable winter, it was now April, and the ground was still covered with snow. She laughed and said “I’m from Milwaukee.” Merry Christmas, Beth.

  2. Whenever I hear someone say they miss the seasons, my comment is "Yes, I like 2 seasons, hot and hotter." Downtown Venice is beautiful at the holidays. I love how some of the developments decorate the palms with lights as well. Merry Christmas!

  3. I feel the same about Christmas in Palm Desert - I love seeing all the palm trees decorated with lights. Sunny Christmases are fine with me!

  4. I'm from Virginia & love that state, but I've lived in Florida for about 50 years & would never consider living with a winter like there again. Love living in Florida!

  5. Downtown Venice is always so pretty at Christmas! We really haven't had any snow in Michigan yet this year and it is supposed to be 57 tomorrow. I wish it would snow, at least for Christmas day.

  6. Harper is a cutie, and I love the picture of the sand men. Venice looks just beautiful, and so very festive. You are a wonderful promoter of Venice, and I'm sure the Chamber of Commerce is very appreciative. Merry Christmas, Beth!
