I can't get enough of natural elements in my home like wicker, rattan, bamboo, straw, jute, raffia, and such. And I wear straw handbags virtually every day here in Florida. But this is definitely next level - a couture gown of raffia.
The raffia dresses were about $10,000 and sold out immediately.

I love Oscar de la Renta. My wedding gown was an Oscar de la Renta couture gown originally in navy blue that I had done in white. The idea of raffia clothing is so fun. Clothes trimmed in feathers are quite popular - I would love to see things trimmed in raffia or faux raffia so it doesn't shed. I believe this gown is faux raffia. Less scratchy too. A raffia ballgown skirt with a white shirt would be just my style.
And the jewelry! BTW, I ordered a set of Fortessa Royal Pacific after you featured it. it was cancelled....I wonder of they sold out?

ReplyDeleteLike you, I am absolutely gobsmack in love with raffia, wicker and rattan! I still remember that picture of the wicker VW you posted, Beth. I know you bought a second car recently, but you talked about wanting a Jolly like Amanda Lindroth's at one time. Do you still see that in your future? Oscar's dress is just wonderful.
