Displaying Seashells

Amanda Lindroth - 2023 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach

I posted before on Amanda Lindroth's extraordinary great room in the new Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach. Her attention to detail in this massive room is absolutely wonderful.

You can see my previous post here. Perhaps my favorite vignette in the space is this large cabinet or buffet filled with seashells with lots of coral and sea fans. It looks like there are silver Revere bowls and ice buckets filled with seashells as well. Great inspiration here for artfully displaying seashells in your home, even if on a smaller scale.

More inspiration displaying shells -

Welcome to Daylight Saving Time. I love it staying light later, but I hope Congress finally does away with changing our clocks back and forth and makes it permanent like most of the world has.

  1. I love the extra daylight hours too, especially in the summer time. I always thought the original intention of daylight savings time was so farmers had more hours in the day to devote to their crops, but I recently heard that it was originally implemented to conserve electricity at a time when electricity was newly discovered and there wasn't yet much in reserve.

    1. Neither is actually correct. It was started during World War I to conserve power and energy, then abolished after the war. It became standard practice after Congress passed the Uniform Time Act in 1966. Arizona and Hawaii do not follow it. The Sunshine Protection Act to keep Daylight Saving Time all year passed the Senate unanimously last year, but stalled in the Senate. It was just reintroduced and may actually pass this year.

    2. I meant to say it stalled in the House after passing in the Senate.

  2. We went across Alligator Alley and up I-95 to Palm Beach yesterday to see the 2023 Kips Bay Decorator Show House yesterday, and it did not disappoint! Have you been? It seemed as if each room featured sea shells, and bar carts!
