Chic Olive Oil

Frantoio Muraglia Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Striped Bottle

I think this is the prettiest bottle of olive oil ever. The ultimate kitchen-to-table olive oil, this award-winning Italian oil works equally well for cooking and finishing. To preserve its rich flavor and aroma and protect it from sunlight, the extra-virgin olive oil is bottled in a hand-painted ceramic container that can be enjoyed as a vase or serving vessel after the oil is finished.

Produced in Northern Apulia from Peranzana olives, Muraglia olive oil is cold-pressed using traditional granite grindstones for perfect structure and balance. The result is a robust, medium-fruity green oil whose peppery flavor offers notes of artichoke and fennel. Enjoy it in vinaigrettes, soups and sauces, or drizzled over pasta, grilled meat, chicken and seafood.

The striped jar is a true style icon. A synthesis of design and tradition, safeguarding all the aroma of freshly-pressed olives.

Two great Apulian traditions – making olive oil and creating decorated vases – have come together in these Frantoio Muraglia Jars. This company’s iconic jars are entirely hand-made by artisans in Apulia who deploy their skills in shaping the clay, kiln-firing and then painting the resulting vessels entirely by hand. Each one is unique.

This definitely deserves to stay out on your countertop. Click here for more info or to order.

But wait, there are other amazing options. These would make a very nice gift for Mother's Day too.

Which one is your favorite? I love them all - the striped one is their best seller. I love combining stripes and chinoiserie, and I think the striped one would be great in my kitchen. With my new island, I can now seat 10 people in my kitchen, and this bottle is perfect for kitchen to table.

Happy May Day! May Day was and is a huge deal where I went to college. You awakened to a basket of fresh flowers and trinkets at your dorm room door, had breakfast of strawberries and cream, wore all white for the day, and no classes with the day spent with Maypole dancing, hoop races, a parade, and a dinner gala.

This is a picture of a recent May Day at Bryn Mawr.

  1. The olive oil bottles are just beautiful. Now I'm going to have to order one. What year was that picture at Bryn Mawr taken, and what is that adorable little creature hanging out on your front door?

    1. That was 2011 at Bryn Mawr but the pictures have looked the same for decades. That is a brown anole - there are millions in Southwest Florida. They are not natives - they were accidentally introduced via a cargo ship from Cuba in the 1880s.
