The Cachepot

Mandy Kellogg Rye

What exactly is a cachepot?

It is a French word for an ornamental receptacle to hold and conceal a flowerpot.

How is it pronounced?

CASH-poh.

I love collecting beautiful cachepots to hold orchids, topiaries, and potted blooming plants like tulips, hyancinths, and such.

Here is a roundup of some lovely ones with lots of chinoiserie choices. In the Bunny Williams one just below, it is being used for a pint of ice cream!

Remove the potted plant to water and let it drain well. Use Spanish moss or sheet moss to top if you like.

Pray for Ukraine. Freedom will prevail.

  2. I bought several of blue canton cache pots for a private luncheon I was hosting and filled them with hot pink flowered potted plants. They were so pretty!
