Ironing in Style

The Laundress

I find that by surrounding yourself with beautiful things, you can make almost any task enjoyable. Ironing is a perfect example and I will show you how. These are all products I have and highly recommend. They are not only beautiful, but highly functional as well.

I have never seen such a chic and stylish ironing board cover with its black and white stripes. It even has a hanging pocket for ironing tools. It is very well padded and very luxurious with elastic edges to fit both American and European sized ironing boards. Take 25% off at The Laundress right now with code LAUNDRY22 and you will also get a free Artisan Fabric Fresh and free shipping with your $50 purchase.

With my move from NOVA, I needed a new ironing board as well. I got this Brabantia Ironing Board that has 4 adjustable heights and an iron rest. Being able to adjust to a comfortable height is critical for your back. This is really a quality ironing board. I got it in this ecru color cover and left it on for even more padding with my black and white The Laundress cover on top.

As for an iron, I knew I wanted a Rowenta iron in blue to match my beloved Brunschwig & Fils Ironing Bored wallpaper that I have I my laundry room.

This was my design board for my laundry room in Alexandria that shows the wallpaper.

I decided on this wonderful iron that checked all my boxes - a top of the line Rowenta in blue and Consumer Reports #1 rated iron. It's a great iron in every way and a pleasure to use. You will be astounded by the steam output of this iron and the way it cuts through wrinkles in a flash.

Lastly, Ironing Water from The Laundress. Adding a bit of this to the water in your iron adds a lovely subtle fragrance to your linens, shirts, and such. Remember to use code LAUNDRY22 for 25% off.

With products like these, you set yourself up for success. Set some time aside, put on some great music, and enjoy the experience of ironing. I love taking care of my beautiful things and I find it very relaxing. And having a beautiful linen closet with everything perfectly ironed like this is my inspiration. I'm not quite there yet, but working on it.

  1. Beautiful BLUE iron :) May have to get one? And yes - it's all in your perspective - a good friend (now deceased) when she was going thru Cancer Treatments - told me ONCE after I complained - "Ugh, I have to do Laundry today " - she replied - "At least you GET to do Laundry". Have never looked at it the same again. Blessings !

    1. I'm so sorry about your friend. The truth of the matter is that I love cleaning my house, ironing, gardening and all things home related. There is literally nothing I would rather be doing.

  2. I have the same ironing board and love it. There is no point in having any other! My Rowenta is not this model, but I will be looking for your model when I need to replace mine.

  4. Beth, do you know anything about garment steamers? I've seen everything from those very fancy Effie garment steamers, which are the size of a large appliance, to travel size garment steamers.

    1. I find the hand held to be pretty useless. Jiffy makes excellent steamers.

  6. Great minds think alike! I have a Brabantia ironing board, a Rowenta steam iron, and I use lavender water when I am ironing.

One important note: If you put the scented water into the iron's steam tank, it will quickly ruin the iron. It says in the manual to use a not-too-hard tap water. I make up my own lavender water (literally by the gallon!0 and put it into a spray bottle (with a dark blue sprayer, of course.)
