Alessandra Branca |
A lovely blue and white room by Alessandra Branca with a modern Ming coffee table, a blue and white Chinese garden stool, wicker, blue velvet, and a wonderful large framed photograph by Italian photographer Massimo Listri. I really like the button tufted back on the wicker settee. I also love that tray.
Alessandra almost always uses lampshades in colors, most often her signature red. Here in blue. It always strikes me as more suited to a child's room - I am more of a purist with white or ivory personally, unless it is wicker or raffia or the like. Just a personal preference. What do you think?
Lovely ,lovely! I like the tray on the table too,it all goes so well together. Excited to hear about your cocktails! Glad you are feeling well and moving forward with grace.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I like the tray too.
DeleteI like the blue shade in this instance but I tend to stay with mostly white in my home. I also like the brown burlap look in a more casual room, like on a screened porch.
ReplyDeleteI like wicker and seagrass for casual.
DeleteI like the blue shade - ties in nicely with the blue bergere chair.
ReplyDeleteToo matchy matchy for me.
DeleteI'm a purist. White or ivory silk shades for me, or ivory or beige linen if it's a dark, masculine room.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s a nice room, the wicker settee and rug makes it more casual so I personally wouldn’t pair them with the velvet. I like the blue shade however the room needs a pop so my shade choices would have been coral or red.
ReplyDeleteThe velvet is my favorite feature in the room. In a blue and white room, I do not care for pops of color. I like it all blue and white.
DeleteI prefer white and an occasional black shade, depending on the lamp.
ReplyDeleteBlack blocks too much light IMO.
DeleteThis is a beautiful room, and I love the blue shade. I can't imagine it in any other color. As far as lampshades in different colors, I'm fine with that. Whatever looks good with the overall design. I love that framed picture. I wonder what it is.
ReplyDeleteMassimo Listri photograph.
DeleteI generally like colored shades or shades with patterns but in this case I would have preferred a natural linen shade with blue borders on top and bottom or a pattern of white and blue--maybe similar to the pillows. I love the lamp post though.
ReplyDeleteThe blue shade feels a little heavy-handed and too matchy-matchy with the chair. Great sofa, btw. The side table is nice albeit a bit crowded.
Just my 2 cents.
I do not personally like patterned or embellished lampshades.
DeleteWhite or Ivory shades definitely- a dark shade diminishes the light that is shed into the room.
ReplyDeleteSo true about dramatically decreasing the light, and I like a lot of light.
DeleteLove everything except the lamp. The Listri is stunning as is the tray. I found the lamp to be distracting. Alessandra Branca is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI love her style except for two things - I am not a big red fan and she loves red, and her colored lampshades.
DeleteI want that chair and the tray!
ReplyDeleteMy two favorite pieces.
