Casa Chinoiserie Chic |
I had fun yesterday starting to tweak styling the Mercer table. First, I adore the table. It is elegant and classic and just perfect for here. The glass does not block the gorgeous view. It will seat 8 for dinner parties. Do you remember the term "dinner party" that was previously in our vocabularies? It is an archaic pre Covid expression. And I adore the white wicker S chairs.
Here is the view of the great room as you walk in. I love it. Obviously, it needs art, but that is up next after the wallpapering this coming week. Harper is exhausted and headed to the study to watch some TV.
I am really enjoying the process of creating this home. After all, it is about the journey, not just the destination. Next is adding orchids and palm fronds to the Mercer table and playing around more with it, perhaps today. Unfortunately, I have a lot of Sandbagger insanity to deal with today. I will fill in the details tomorrow finally. Thanks for your patience and support.
Beautiful table, just elegant. I hope in the future we can have our dinner parties return. It is a favorite way to entertain.
ReplyDeleteYes, very sad. Hopefully down the road.
DeleteYour home is really stunning. I want to move in and never leave.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I love it here.
DeleteThe monkeys on the table!!🐒🐒💕
ReplyDeleteThey are vintage Mottahedeh and favorites of mine.
DeleteThey found a perfect home.
DeleteI still can't get over how much you have done having just moved in. You are Wonder Woman.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteThe table and S chairs are gorgeous! Love the view of the palms. Have fun styling it all.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - the view is hard to beat.
DeleteEverything is coming together so well! Love the new Mercer table! Love the monkeys!
ReplyDeleteThose Mottahedeh monkeys are favorites of mine. I love their facial expressions.
DeleteStunning, elegant table. I love its sleek lines along with the chairs. I love the view! Your home is beautiful. You are doing a wonderful job filling your space with elegant, chic choices.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I am thrilled with everything.
DeleteLoving the table and those S chairs! Can’t wait for the palms and orchids! The artwork will be the icing on the cake 😍
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Thanks so much. A work in progress.
DeleteWatching closely. Working something similar. Thanks for inspiration. I love every little detail.
ReplyDeleteThank you for following.
DeleteEndless possibilities with all your beautiful treasures. Making choices won't be easy when you love everything, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteFor me, editing is always the toughest challenge. I am constantly moving things around, living with it for awhile then tweaking, adding and subtracting and getting yet another new thing until it feels just right.
It's a hobby really, the way gardening is. An ongoing, wonderful, therapeutic, instant gratification endeavor, always there, rain or shine. No company needed.
Amen to everything. I love playing in my home and garden and do not really miss it out there.
DeleteYour home is coming together beautifully. Can't wait to see it after the artwork and wallpaper are installed! I'm thinking about reworking my dining room in a similar vein.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. If you have been following, I moved the dining area and am using it as a library table except for rare dinner parties and I love it. The one one thing I disliked about this house was the small dining room and I fixed that and am so pleased. I can seat 8 instead of 4.
DeleteThe tropical view...it's everything!
ReplyDeleteIt's the reason I bought the house. Thank you.
DeleteYour new table is just FAB! It's been so much fun to watch your new little nest being built - so much fun. I hope the SB trash man gets his stuff together and moves on leaving you in peace. You deserve to be treated with respect. What a jerk!!
ReplyDeleteThank so much. I am so happy to have the house nearing completion, but with a home there are always projects.
DeleteGlad you are having fun! The table is all that you said it would be.
ReplyDeleteThanks - all my furniture is now here and I am getting down to the short strokes. Hallelujah.
Delete"I love it here." It's so wonderful to hear you say this, after all you've been through. I hate that a**hole who's so needlessly driving you to distraction. I'm putting my $ on your legal background to take control of this and put it to rest, once and for all.
ReplyDelete...and by the way, you owe us nothing re your ongoing legal struggles with Monster, nothing. Not an explanation, not a detailed chapter and verse, absolutely no need to extend appreciation to us for "patience and support." I'd rather see you disappear for as long as it takes than feel obliged to provide explanations around this insanity. How you've gotten through this from way back I'll never know. PLEASE think of yourself first, we can wait...
DeleteThanks so much, very much appreciated.
DeleteHere's another winner just in from Enchanted Home that would look great in your house. Wicker!!!
ReplyDeleteI am dying to get a pair of planters and ginger jars and ESPECIALLY tulipieres, even though I don't have a place for them right now but I know I will in the next place. I am pining for them...it's just not right.

I love all the fun wicker pieces out there nowadays and perfect for Florida.
DeleteI adore your brass pagoda style ceiling pendant in the top right. Can you please tell me what it is?
ReplyDeleteYou will hate me - LOL, but it's a Ralph Lauren gold leaf with beaded crystals pagoda (now discontinued) that retailed for $2200 as I recall that I found at HG!
Deletelove, love the wicker chairs!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have a dinner party where do you store all the things on the table? I always have trouble with that as not to "junk up another space" so to speek. Everything looks fab!
In my study I have massive built-in twin desks with shelves above and cabinets below. Plenty of room to store everything.
DeleteWill you be putting down an area rug? Is the room noisy to walk in?
ReplyDeleteNo and no. I would never cover these floors and I generally hate rugs to begin with. And there is absolutely no noise.
DeleteI have been following for a while. Really enjoy your unique point of view. Like many others here I am astounded by how quickly you are not just settling in but creating a gorgeous and organized abode. Especially with all the drama the sandbagger has drummed up. The real reason for my comment: I just received the latest Ballard catalog [haven't had one in quite awhile]. SO much chinoiserie! Pumpkins, salt and pepper shaker set, ice bucket. finials including mini pagodas. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI just came across this DIY cordless table lamp project that looks positively wonderful and useful for so many settings. Even like the looks of the lamp here with the raffia shade:

I love this table and the chairs are so comfortable. I'm thinking about ordering it while the chairs are on sale. Question, I have a black antique Chinese sideboard and a Kashmir rug. Can I get away with the dark chocolate brown chairs or will they clash with the sideboard?
ReplyDeleteI think they would look great.
