My Ikea Hack |
Before this house becomes a distant memory, I thought I might show you some more of it. Let's start with my Ikea hack.
When we moved in, there were no bookcases at all. Above are the built-in bookcases Golf Guy did for me. These were created using 5 Ikea Billy bookcases with two extenders on each and then a board at the top for the three sconces that I wanted for more lighting for the living room and lots of shelves for my books and objets.
The cost came in at under $1,000 and would have been many many times that for custom. I think they look great. Note that this configuration was for 10 foot ceilings. I might do something similar in the new house but with a different handyman. LOL
I love this!! And your collections are to die for. I'd like to scurry though that room carrying my largest tote bag!!!! LOLOL! Cathy
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - good I will have an alarm system!
DeleteLook very good!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGreat Billy hack!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I love it - very dramatic with the high ceilings.
DeleteThat looks gorgeous! I've been obsessed with having built in bookshelves for when we move, but my husband was saying it's probably very expensive (I think it costs 2000-3000 in Canada)! This is an amazing idea, we might give it a try!
ReplyDeleteThanks - if you guys are handy at all you can save big $$$$.
DeleteSo lovely and cheerful. Is this also your shop?
ReplyDeleteNo, but I love to shop!
DeleteThose look great! I especially love the sconces. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteThanks - and the sconces were crazy cheap on Amazon - about $25.00 each.
DeleteI love your ladder. Is it an antique? Such a wonderful, cheerful room!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is antique. Thank you!
DeleteThese look great! I did something similar in my last house, but used the Billy bookcases, with the extenders and the glass doors.
ReplyDeleteI love it with the glass doors. Thanks!
