P.S. I also just realized that I was not getting notices of comments to moderate and have hundreds awaiting moderation. Yikes and sorry!
P.P.S. I think I should clarify that Florida was not the mistake. I never shared on the blog that my husband dropped dead of a heart attack in 2017. He came home saying he was getting a cold and went to lie down and never woke up. I later started dating someone who wanted to move to Florida and it seemed like a nice fresh start for me and I fell in love with Sarasota and the house, but he turned out to be a hot mess. So he is moving into the Sarasota house, thankfully I am not.
A great foyer here - love the skirted table, the Chinese gourd lamp, the blue and white Chinese porcelain, and the Chinese garden stool.
Wow that is big news. So sorry about your puppers, hope s/He is on the mend. Prayers for your eye as well. Glad you made a great decision about moving. You were missed every day.💛
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. She is doing much better as am I. They always say things come in threes.
DeleteGlad everyone is okay and I'm glad you're back! I've missed your posts!
ReplyDeleteThanks, me too. I have been distracted!
DeleteDear Beth ,
ReplyDeleteYou know what is best for you and what not !
Just found out that 2 of my favourite bloggers I visit every week , had health
issues .
Carolyn Roehm being very ill and you having problems after eye surgery .
Hope you are doing much better now .
Take care . And good luck with the fresh start on your blog .
Folkert , Amsterdam
Thank you so much. What is going on with Carolyne Roehm?
DeleteI have selfishly been missing your daily posts but am truly sorry for your difficult times. Eye surgery complications sound awful, I'm so sad your sweet pooch was harmed and while I would move to FL in a heartbeat it is definitely not for everyone- an acquired taste!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and I hope everyone and everything continues to improve!
Thanks for your kind words - we are all doing better - Izzy's two sisters have been taking good care of her. I love where I live and never wanted to leave. Glad I woke up!
DeleteI am so glad you are back. Hope everything is fine with you and your little dog.
ReplyDeleteMe too and we are both doing better, thanks.
DeleteSorry about your husband, the pup and the eye surgery! Sounds like you dodged a bullet re: boyfriend. I've missed your blog. It is the first thing I look at as I begin my day! Thanks for your posts!
ReplyDeleteI dodged a missile. Thanks so much - glad to be back!
DeleteYikes, yikes and yikes. Hope you and the pup are doing better.
ReplyDeleteI think you missed a yikes. We are doing better, thanks!
DeleteBest wishes to you. May you find only good fortune and happiness in your future endeavors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your well wishes - much appreciated.
DeleteWow. You have certainly been through a lot, Beth. I'm so sorry. Losing a loved one is difficult emotionally, not to mention that one has all the things that have to be settled and put in order. I hope things start looking up for you soon.
ReplyDeleteYes, especially when there is no warning. I had to shut down his law practice as well as the estate matters.
DeleteP.S. I always love reading your chinoiserie posts, and I ADORED the Ralph Lauren room. What ever happened to your style/fashion blog?
ReplyDeleteI wrote that blog Style Redux with my daughter who was with Neiman Marcus at the time. She got too busy and I did not have the time to continue it by myself.
DeleteGlad your blog is back. I check it everyday! Glad you and the pup are on the mend. Very glad you saw the red flag before you made the jump to Florida.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on with Carolyne Rohm?
I did not know that she was ill. Thanks for the welcome back. The best is yet to come.
DeleteThat is a beautiful foyer! More importantly, however, I am so, so sorry life has thrown so much your way. I don’t know you personally, but you will be my thoughts and I hope better days are ahead for you!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet. Me too. Hopefully things will improve - appreciate the support.
DeleteYou were missed! I hope you are recovering from everything. So sorry to hear the very sad news about your husband. Glad you figured out the hot mess situation...and I hope your days are filled with peace as you regroup. Love, love, love every post you have ever shared! Take care
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have you as a follower - I am glad to be making a fresh start with the blog. Thanks for the support.
DeleteWell, that was an awful lot to get through--so sorry about it all but glad things are looking up. Your posts are always so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It was a lot at once, but things are improving.
DeleteSo very sorry about your husband. And everything else. I love chinoiserie style and always enjoy your blog posts. All the best to you. Cathy
ReplyDeleteGlad you like Chinoiserie and my blog and thanks for your support.
DeleteSorry to hear about your husband. You are being true to yourself now. Make the most of where you are in life. So glad you are posting again. I love everything you post about
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thoughts and will do my best. Thanks!
DeleteBless your heart, Beth. Thankful things became clear for you before you made the move to FL. Sending love and prayers your way for both you and your sweet dog. — Joyce
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. We have been through the ringer, but everything is improving.
DeleteThat is a lot of news to digest! First, I love this room. Second, I am so sorry for all your recent travails, but am so glad that you dodged a bullet. You are where you were meant to be. I appreciate your willingness to share all this with us. I have missed your posts. Fingers crossed that all goes well for you from here on out.

I am not big on sharing personal issues on the blog, but felt I needed to with so many long time followers. I really appreciate all the support.
DeleteSorry for all of your losses. I salute your courage and your strength and perhaps having taken a beating, your mostly relentless joy. I wish you all that you want for the days ahead.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear from you! I am regrouping and looking forward to happier days. Thanks.
DeleteOh my goodness, I am so sorry for your loss, and other troubles! I have been lurking for years, just enjoying the pretty pictures. They are reliable bits of fun in good times and not-so-good as well. Best wishes to you for a much better road forward, and hugs to that sweet little dog. I'm glad you are staying in the home that you love.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I truly appreciate everyone's support and well wishes for the future.
DeleteI am so sorry for the loss of your husband and happy for you that you recognized the Sarasota move and man are wrong for you. It is not always easy to see the forest thru the trees. I am glad you are staying in the Alexandria area as my kids live nearby and I always had hoped to meet you!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and the foyer above. And if you ever want to come to Florida, I have a dog friendly house on the other coast so you will never run into the hot mess!!
You are so funny! I'm glad I realized before it was too late that I was looking for a change, but this would have been for the worse, not better. Thanks for your invite - but I have 3 pups! Luckily, my daughter is 5 minutes away and loves to housesit when I travel. Let me know when are up here again.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back.! So sorry to hear about your troubles, but I hope the future is bright for you. I’ve missed your posts and look forward to their resumption. If you ever visit the opposite coast, I have lots of chinoiserie for your perusal.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I might just take you up on that. I have always wanted to go hunting for vintage Chinoiserie around Palm Beach and West Palm.
DeleteHoly cow!!!!! And I thought you were just swamped with design jobs, recreating lovely interiors for very fortunate clients. I cannot imagine....! One thing is for sure: You are a SURVIVOR! I recall the loss of your very dear best friend several years ago, and now to learn of this...too heartbreaking. Thank heavens you read the writing on the wall. Being a HUGE animal lover, the injury to your sweet pup is just too much! Everything that "Home Before Dark" wrote in her comment to you is what I want to say. You, my dear, are nothing short of AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet and yes, it has been a challenge. I have left out 99% of the gory details. I literally could write a book.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog, fabulous. I am sorry to hear about your loss and send prayers of healing and renewal.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness gracious - as a regular reader of your wonderful blog, I am so sorry for your loss, and amazed at your strength. As someone who just got out of the purchase of a beautiful house that wasn't for me, I know how confusing that can be - glad it's over but sad at the same time. Please take care of yourself.
